For someone with so much free time, I sure suck at updating here. I mean, there's not a whole lot going on, but that never stopped anyone from posting before! I suspect entries will pick up once I am back to work and have things to procrastinate/slack off from. :V Most notably this week I was treated to a lovely surprise birthday/welcome back party at the Cambrian, with an adorable beehive cake, and bee ballloons! Ian has pictures on his phone which he has promised to send me so that we can put them on the facebox. Big thanks and hugs to everyone who came! I even met some new peeps from Ian's work; it was great. Monday night we watched the Call of Cthulhu (2005, black and white silent film), which was frickin' fantastic. The best adaptation of a Lovecraftian tale I've ever seen. I realize that's not saying a lot when the competition is stuff like the laughable 'Dagon', but this really is an excellent movie. Put together by the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society, it is very faithful both in story and spirit to the original. The silent film (as a film made during the time the story was set would have been) really adds to the story; it's so surreal. I highly, highly recommend this to anyone who is at all into the mythos! I believe Mr. Cat still has it on his computer; he shared it with me, so ask him if you can't find it in your local video shop (odds are slim :p). Tuesday we had a few peeps over and watched Blades of Glory (hilarious) and Cronos (awesome), and last night we chilled at John & MIchelle's, and watched Pirates!, a HILARIOUS soft core porn. OMG. I kind of want to own it. In other news I am hoping ( hoping) to be able to get my stuff tomorrow. It depends on whether we can get a van I guess. I don't know what we'll do if we can't, since I have to start school shit on Monday, and also they will start charging me for storage after the 24th. Fingers crossed, please! Ian continues to be awesome... I love living with him. Sometimes it blows my mind a little when I remember that I'm not just staying here for a while and then going home... I am home! And it's clean and nice and there are windows... You can tell I'm comfy because I've been baking and cooking up a storm. Since arriving here I have made a pie, blackberry muffins, apple muffins, and all kinds of savoury stuff. I cooked a bunny for dinner on the weekend. Mmm, mm, honey-garlic roasted rabbit. I may make pumpkin bread today. I'm also planning on having Canadian Thanksgiving at my house and having a few people over, either on the Sunday or the Monday, depending on when I end up having classes/work. I should know that soon enough, as induction is next week, and I register on Tuesday... I hope I can find a job with good hours that I don't hate! I also need to go and do a preliminary scouting of wedding gowns so that I'll have some kind of idea what I am looking for when I go with Ian's mum... I have been looking online but I'd really like to try something on and see what actually looks good on me, as opposed to a stick figure model. Woo. Long. badThanks to my boots' nonexistent treads, I slipped in the slush yesterday and injured myself. My left lower back and upper leg/thigh is strained somehow and is causing no small amount of discomfort. I don't have a compress (read: bag of peas) big enough for the affected area, so I'm just limping around, taking a bunch of advil, and hoping it fades away before my lifting progress is completely screwed. I will be buying new boots at the earliest opportunity (thanks Dad!) -- I would have done this weekend but it was extremely cold out and the subways were all screwed up. goodRob took me to Hooters for supper, huzzah! And we did, in fact, get in to the advance screening of the 300 -- Rob had scored free tickets from the Hairy Tarantula. It was super sweet, and now I can't wait to play 5K again. Only the hard! Only the strong! :V This! Is! SPARTA! I also can't wait to see it on IMAX when it comes out for real. When I got home I found my Royal Bank investment t3 and student loan interest receipt, so now all I need is my t4, which I know was mailed yesterday, and then I can do my taxes. Fingers are crossed. Tonight I am going to the glass studio again to do some finishing work on my remaining pieces. I will finally get to see just how ugly my glass/vase thing really is! You can't really see the colour accurately when it's still hot, so I am curious... badWork today. Work sucks. Good times were had this afternoon despite my illness. Thanks to the miracle of THE INTERNET, I had heard about a promotion for a certain snake- and plane-related movie going on downtown today; so myself, elanya and ladyiolanthe headed down to the Bay. They had set up a sort of cross section of an airplane, with one row of seats... and you could get your picture taken in said seats with an actual snake! It was an albino ball python, so cute! There were also very tartily dressed stewardesses, and they were giving away posters and t-shirts too! My t-shirt is way too big though -- they were all larges. Maybe I will use it to sleep in or something. How come "snake tart" wasn't listed on the Toronto job bank? I wonder how much that pays... :V If I can get access to a scanner I will put up our picture. Anyway, before that we went to PS Kensington and ate empanadas, and afterwards we had ice cream! That was fun also, but this post is not about Kensington Market, or empanadas, or ice cream. It is about Snakes. And Planes. I wish I could scan the poster that I got, too... It is made to look like one of those airline safety cards, and includes such helpful tips as: "YOUR SNACK TRAY MAY BE USED TO TRAP AND CONFUSE SNAKES." Hee. Exit is cancelled tonight, so I will probably be seeing C again before she leaves after all. Activities may or may not involve snakes. And remember... In the event of a snake evacuation, the emergency slide will be deployed for safe exit. Tags: amusements, friends, movies, snakes, toronto i feel: silly

I made an incredible pie last night. Sometimes Rob and I do this thing where he will get me some ingredients and I will make some food. Last night the food was a chocolate pecan pie. I found the recipe on bakebakebake, and made a couple of changes. It was incredible. Everyone should make this pie. Everyone. ( Dark Chocolate Pecan Pie )This only has like 500 calories a slice, but who cares, right? :V It was nearly black inside and sooo fudgey and delicious... Mmm. Can't wait until I get home from the gym tonight so I can have another piece. I'd also made delicious turkey burgers (lean ground turkey + egg + Diana sauce) for dinner, so it was a good food day for me. I also got to talk to Krystal for a while and catch up a bit before Rob came over... I wish I had actually been able to see her and mib and Kate though, I am so jealous! Anyway Rob came over and we ate pie and tried to watch Pirates of the Caribbean. My DVD player would have none of it, though. I don't know what its flippin' issue is. The DVD is clean and scratch free but about halfway through my player basically told it to go fuck itself. :( All I wanted to do was watch a damn pirate movie. Rob thought it might be the heat, but I didn't find it overly warm last night... Boooourns. I should have tried to play it on the PS2 but I didn't think of it. Screw you, DVD player. I can't afford a new one (obviously). So... I don't really have anything else right now. I want to go back to sleep... Tags: bogganing, food, life, movies, recipes i feel: exhausted

I kind of want to see My Super Ex-Girlfriend. I wasn't sure from the trailers, but now it's getting good reviews... and it apparently co-stars Eddie Izzard as the villain, as well as being written by a 3-time Emmy-winning Simpsons alumnus... Hmmm. I need money. :/ I'm trying to change my August trip to Fredericton for the long weekend in September, but the Air Canada website isn't being very helpful. Half the time it doesn't work. When I did get through, it didn't apply the credit from my previously booked flight to the booking change fee -- the new flight was about $100 cheaper despite the holiday weekend, so it would have been more than enough. I'm not sure if that's a mistake, or just how they roll. Does anyone here know? If not I will call them tonight, I guess. Another option would be to go to Miramichi (flying to Moncton) for Thanksgiving, but I don't know if Dad has other plans. Christmas is out unless the estate gets settled because it is way too expensive. :/ If I'm going to change it at all though I need to have the credit applied to the fee, otherwise it's 80 dollars I don't have. Grr, stupid fees. In other news, my butt hurts real bad. I went to a class last night that was roughly 1/2 step and 1/2 weights. I hate hate HATE step. I hate how everyone *else* seems to magically know what to do without missing a beat, while I struggle to figure out what the hell 'side tap ham curl' is supposed to mean in time to not look retarded (and fail, over and over). However the weights part is hardcore enough that I will probably go again... COOKIE REPORT: Cookies are most excellent, especially the chocolate ones!! I shared some with people last night, then put some in the freezer and took a few in my lunch... And there are still more! YUM! COOKIES! I have the best boyfriend ever. <3 Tags: *heart*, eeee!, food, life, money, movies, travel, vanity i feel: sore but happy groovin' on: The Zombies - Friends of Mine

I managed to make it through yesterday, relying on strategic and stealthy application of tissues... The sparsity of employees worked in my favour in that way at least. Still, ugh. It seems to be behaving so far today, at least. My fingers are thoroughly crossed. I don't know what was up with yesterday... Nothing was going right. Even the subway doors were against me. I went to get off at Yonge and Bloor and they wouldn't open! WTF! So I had to scramble through a crowded train to get to another door before it closed and the subway left. Then I was supposed to go to the gym with Lannie, but my alarm didn't go off and I was nearly an hour late. When I finally did get there I only did about a 1/2 hour before I felt like throwing up. This crap has got to go. :( It's not like I'm not trying... After that things did get better though; I watched the Lost Skeleton with Rob and Lan, and I managed to get most of my dishes washed. Tonight there is game... hopefully I can remember how to play my character! Tags: bees, gross, health or lack thereof, movies, the crazy, toronto, ttc i feel: sleepy

New Brunswick was great. Every time I go back, I wish I could have stayed longer. Of course, there is never enough time to see/do all the people and things you would have liked (especially if it rains half the time and one is feeling less than optimal after a root canal). We did get to see the Canada Day fireworks and go to the market in Fredericton, and the weather cooperated long enough for tubing on the Miramichi, so, huzzah. My family and friends all seem to like Ian -- not that I was worried; he is very nice and awesome, so what's not to like? It has been wonderful to have him staying with me. Some of you know how jealously I guard my space, so that is really saying something! ;) The only thing that's put kind of a damper on our visit is a very ill-timed period of ill health (mine). Since June I've had stomach problems, followed by migraine, then pinkeye, then my teeth issues, then spells of nausea (which I'm *still* having after nearly 2 weeks!), and then a yeast infection caused by the antibiotics from my root canal, plus other assorted minor complaints... Not optimal. Still, I'd rather be sickly and have Ian here than be in perfect health and be by myself. I am so lucky; sometimes I feel like I don't deserve it, especially when I am being all sick and cranky and he is so patient and sweet... <3 I can't believe he's leaving on Friday. Mostly I try not to think about that, but... I have no idea at all when I'm going to see him again. All this dental crap has left me pretty financially crippled. An extra emergency appointment I didn't bank on, plus the reconstruction of the root canalled tooth to pay for. I'm putting those on the credit card, but I don't really know where the money is going to come from after all the other dentistry bills that I was trying to recover from. My tooth has been hurting on and off again for the past couple of days and I'm worried that it's not normal, but I don't want to call for another appointment I can't afford! I'm not even mentioning the root canal itself, because I had an angel of mercy help me out on that one... -_- So yeah, no idea when we'll be together again. Ian was looking at some game design stuff in Montreal/Québec, and also some other programmy stuff in Canada, but I don't know how much I should get my hopes up. Anyway... I've been playing a lot of Katamari lately. It is retardedly addictive. I have decided I want a katamari -- or even better, a King of All Cosmos cake for my birthday. Hey, it's nice to want things. We went to see Pirates of the Caribbean last night. I liked it very much, although not quite as much as the first one. Mostly I felt that the sequel's villain was less entertaining than the original's. Yo ho ho and such. I'm looking forward to the next one (thankfully I only have to wait until May)... but first comes SNAKES. Tags: *heart*, health or lack thereof, life, money, | | |
